One of the best blogs out there to learn about twitter comes from Darren Rowse, it's called TwiTip, it's not very old, but has taken off and gained a mass following.
If someone @ work has blocked access to twitter.com, your world isn't over. You still have some choices to get yourself online with twitter again.
All you need to do is visit through one of the public proxies available:
